Attending the 2021 LMSA National Conference
Last weekend, I attended the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) National and West Regional Conference. Last year, I had the...
Katya Vera. Verily Katya.
Ver·i·ly /ˈverəlē/ (adverb)
truly; certainly.
Katya /kaa·tyuh/ (noun)
stylish pre-med student.
Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, I was raised by my single mother in the Central Valley of California. Growing up in a medically underserved and educationally under-resourced region, as well as being the granddaughter of immigrant farmworkers, I found myself called to serve underserved populations in both a medical and educational context.
In 2020, I graduated from Princeton University magna cum laude with a degree in Anthropology and minors in Global Health & Health Policy and Latin American Studies. I hope to apply to medical school in 2022 and am currently completing a pre-med post-bacc at Loyola Marymount University in LA.
I work at Latinx en Medicina, a digital media platform dedicated to all things Latinx health, and enjoy traveling, drinking coffee, and fashion! My goal is to address health disparities among marginalized populations and increase access to education, all with a little bit of style and perspective of course!
